Great news!

The surgeon brought the pathology test results from the tumor.

It turns out most of the tumor was mostly dead flesh. The tests show that there will be no need for Chemotherapy or Radiation, just routine blood work and CT scans for a while.

Ryan feels that the ‘power of positive thinking’ and the prayers & love from others is what made this miracle happen.

He feels very blessed and is happy to say he is Cancer Free!

He will be in Victoria for the next few weeks to heal and build his strength back up.

There are a few things to celebrate today. Very big things that are awesome.

Ryan is really upping the ante on his layout maps. Instead of simple pencil sketches, he’s going all-out with Photoshop, giving the environment artists a high level of easy-to-read detail.

We got a little press. Check it out!

In our thoughts…

April 9, 2007

Our business development manager, Ryan Peterson, goes into surgery on Tuesday, April 17.

Ryan has Carcinomatous transformation of teratoma. If you actually know what that is, you are probably a doctor. Apparently this thing is rarer than rare. The tumor has not spread, and the doctors think they can remove it with surgery. He will not have to undergo any chemotherapy.

There is no cure for this type of cancer, but that won’t matter because it will be in the garbage, and the tumor can be incurable all it wants once it’s safely removed.

The surgery is not a cake walk, but considering the alternative he is extremely fortunate.

Update: Thursday, April 19:

Everything is as good as it could be with Ryan. His operation went well, 30 minutes shorter than expected. They removed the tumor and are doing some tests on it over next 2 weeks. He should be out of the hospital next week and spend the next 4-8 weeks recovering.
All good.

Update: Tuesday, April 24:

Word is, Ryan is 100% cancer-free. Great news!

We’ve started the block-out process of creating 3-D spaces based on the gameplay maps created by designer Ryan Mattson. Our newbie from the Guildhall, Zach Jaquays, whipped up this space in a couple of days, and I’ve already mapped out the action for each of the 20 events that make up the level.

My illustration about portal visibility isn’t actually as vulgar as it might look, I swear.
